Java Technical Lead

A major financial services company is currently looking for a Java Technical Lead to join their tea to work in agile and multi-disciplinary team.

The main focus of this role will be providing back-end design and development expertise in the delivery of Digital solutions. The ideal candidate will be someone able to provide highly proficient knowledge of Java technologies, open source Java development and Java web architectures. They will be a strong team player who displays a can-do attitude, with solid experience collaborating in multidisciplinary agile teams.

The role will be based in Farnborough and the candidate has to be able to work on site 5 days per week.

Essential skills:

  • Extensive experience of Java 8
  • Experience with Java components and frameworks (Spring Boot, Spring Cloud)
  • Detailed knowledge of the use of Web services (SOAP & REST)
  • Experience with Agile methodologies (TDD, BDD, SCRUM, Kanban, etc)
  • Experience with Cloud technologies (AWS, Pivotal Cloud Factory)
  • Experience with Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (GitHub, GitFlow, Jenkins, Gradle)
  • Experience with unit testing (Jest)
  • Experience with relational database (Oracle, MySQL)  and distributed database (HBase/Hadoop)
  • Strong communication skills
  • Experience sharing knowledge and working in a multi-disciplinary team
  • Experience in managing one or more junior developers, ensuring that they are inspired and motivated to deliver the best work possible.
